- "By thy colour will he know thee, By thy banners will he fear thee, By thy standard will he dread thee, Cry Apocalypse, and let slip the weapons of war."
- ―Icadius Trajan, 885.M31.
Icadius Trajan is the Primarch of the Knights of Apocalypse Legion, Lord-Protector of the Last Imperium, and acting Warmaster of the Quorundam Crusade. Together with his brother, Nykoron Chronus, Icadius has survived outside the known galaxy for the last 11,000 years.
While the 20 Primarchs were still infants, the Ruinous Powers of Chaos scattered the Primarchs across the Milky Way Galaxy. In the aftermath, the Space Marines created from what limited gene-stock was available from the IInd Primarch numbered roughly 1000. They accompanied the Emperor of Mankind and the Legio Custodes as he began the Great Crusade, staying in reserve for when their Primarch was re-discovered.
Soon, the Primarch Horus was found, and reunited with his legion, the Luna Wolves. Horus treated the other Astartes he came across, those of the IInd legion, with pride and almost familial love. He included the IInd legion in some of his earlier campaigns alongside the Emperor, preferring to keep them in top shape for the awaited return of their Primarch.
As it so happened, the next Primarch to be discovered was none other than Icadius Trajan, the Primarch of the IInd Legion, who had risen to the title of Warlord on the planet of Bahamut, uniting the disparate clans of the world into a formidable army ready to expand from their home.
Upon meeting the Emperor, he was united with his Legion at long last, and instantly recognized them for what they were, his sons. He gave them the title of Knights of Apocalypse, his harbingers of the end times for all who opposed his father's glorious rule. From then on, the Knights of Apocalypse fought side by side with the Luna Wolves in many campaigns throughout the early days of the Great Crusade.
